It is looking hopeful for households across the UK, as energy bills are set to reduce significantly this April, thanks to a decrease in the energy price cap. The average household is due to experience a drop from the current £1,928 to £1,690 per year, resulting in an annual saving of £238.

UKBC welcomes a reduction in energy prices, benefitting their customers

According to Ofgem, the energy price cap is the maximum amount that energy suppliers can charge you per unit of energy and standing charge if you're on a normal variable tariff. Prices are capped depending on average energy use in homes.

In addition, the price cap ensures that rates for customers on standard variable tariffs (the default tariff) are reasonable and accurately represent the cost of energy. The following methods of paying for your gas and electricity are covered by the price cap:

  • standard credit (payment made when you get your electricity and gas bill)
  • Direct Debit
  • prepayment meter
  • Economy 7 (E7) meter

Ofgem has announced a substantial reduction in the energy price cap for the second quarter of 2024, effective from 1st April until 30th June. This reduction, amounting to 12.3% compared to the previous quarter, is a breath of fresh air for consumers, particularly those with dual fuel arrangements paying by direct debit.

This adjustment brings energy prices to their lowest levels since the turbulent period following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The invasion made the energy market more unstable, causing suppliers to raise their prices, and as a result, consumers had to pay more for energy.

UK Boiler Care (UKBC) Managing Director Sean Whiting stated, "We're pleased about the upcoming reduction in energy prices as it will bring good news for our customers. This change means they can look forward to lower annual bills, providing a positive impact on their household expenses. At UKBC, we're committed to ensuring our customers benefit from these changes, bringing them more stability in their energy costs starting from April 2024.”

As energy prices are set to reduce significantly in April 2024, UKBC sees an opportunity for households to consider investing in eco-friendly boiler systems. The potential savings from the drop in energy prices could provide households with the extra funds needed to upgrade their heating systems. Eco-friendly boilers not only contribute to a more sustainable environment but also offer long-term cost savings through improved energy efficiency.

UKBC understands that the upfront cost of installing a new boiler can be a concern for many households. To address this, the company offers flexible financing options, allowing customers to spread the cost of their boiler investment over time. This approach ensures that households can access the latest, energy-efficient heating technology without facing an upfront financial burden.
